If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will know that I recently went through all my cosmetics and beauty products and tossed everything that had an ingredient on the “Ick List” – about 99% of what I had.
And then panic set it. There was virtually nothing left. “Now what???’
There was a lot to replace. After some research and trying things out, I found several replacements that were “ick free”. Most of them came straight out of the pantry. I love to simplify and find uses for things I already have.
Here is my list of the top 5 healthy beauty swaps that I use.
Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
My favorite make-up remover of all time. With dry hands, massage a small amount on your face; then wash off with a warm wash cloth. Your skin will feel amazing!
A wonderful cleanser. I like to use it in the shower in the morning. The natural anti-bacterial properties of raw honey will help clear up acne and prevent breakouts. Warm a teaspoon of the honey in your hands and then rub on your face. Wash it off with a warm wash cloth.
This is a great swap for toner. Use a cotton ball to apply this to your face. It removes any residual dirt and helps pores appear smaller.
Sweet Almond Oil
This light oil absorbs quickly into the skin and is an excellent daily facial moisturizer. It also is great as a replacement for body lotion.
Sugar pairs well this another item on this list…olive oil…to make a facial scrub.
These alternatives will keep your skin looking great and help reduce the amount of unhealthy ingredients going into your body. The added bonus? They will save you money too!
These healthy beauty swaps are “all about the face, ’bout the face, ’bout the face.” Later this month, I’ll post about other healthy solutions for your beauty routine.
